1-Year Immersion Diploma Program in Filmmaking (DPF)
USD 14,290

Start your filmmaking career in a year’s time!

Students of the IAFT's Diploma Program in Filmmaking (DPF) are completely immersed in the art and craft of filmmaking through an intensive program that inspires creativity and tests your drive to complete a short film.

DPF sharpens your knowledge about the roles within a professional film crew. Term one and Term Two cover exactly the same basic and intermediate courses as those of the “Certificate Program in Filmmaking”. Term Three is the advanced level. It delves further into the organized production of only one of a few shorts chosen by mentors in a pitching process similar to that in a studio system. Term Four is Thesis Planning and Internship. Term 5 is Thesis Production and it focuses your attention on your final project -- your thesis film -- which will be screened separately before a special graduation ceremony. This eight minute thesis is part of your professional show reel, an invaluable tool for presenting accumulated movie-making skills to industry professionals.

The diploma course also includes electives ranging from directing actors, music video production, guerilla filmmaking, documentary production, to CGI. You will have the chance to work with a 16mm camera within the context of an actual student production that incorporates the same elements of filmmaking from writing and producing, to directing and editing.

Grounded with this training, graduate filmmakers can continue to forge careers and join the ranks of those who dare to make their creative dreams come true in the film industry.

This includes being the creative force through all the stages of making a film - Development, Production, Production, Editing, Sound Mix, Marketing and Distribution. This one year program has a flexible schedule as the curriculum is based around the shooting cycle of the feature film. With the campus adjacent to an actual working film studio, students will also get internship opportunities for 8 to 12 weeks of their program working on other projects. Upon completing the program, students will possess marketable skills needed to break into film industries throughout the world.

5-month Certificate Program in Filmmaking (CPF)
USD 7,970

You will learn the basics required to enter the exciting world of filmmaking.

Five months is all it takes for you to develop an ideal foundation that will help you in your pursuit to become a film professional. This fast paced program is divided into two 9-week terms.

Term One tackles the basic level of Cinematography, Screenwriting, Directing, Production, Post Production, and Sound. Term Two deals with the intermediate level of filmmaking competencies. Coursework also includes an eight-hour certification workshop in Digital Video, classes in American and European cinema, and a Digital Photography course.

At the end of the 5-month course, you will have completed two short films with a crew made up of your classmates. The first is an MOS (film with no dialogue) and the second is a another short, complete with all sounds. These will be presented at special screenings, along with the other student films, at the end of every term.

In a short amount of time, every student is exposed to international standards of operations by mentors who actually work in the film industry. It's just a taste of what a professional filmmaker's life is all about. 5-month Certificate Program in Acting for the Camera (CPAC)
USD 3,010

If your passion is performing in front of the camera, then the International Academy of Film and Television can usher you into the spotlight with a short introduction to the fundamentals of acting!

The “Acting for the Camera Program” is not simply about the methods of acting, it is a holistic approach to creating believable characters for stage and screen. Beginning students are introduced to the rehearsal process, the techniques of interpreting a script, and ways of researching a character's backstory. Classes in Theatre History, Voice, Movement, and Improvisation round out the instruction given by professionally trained actors currently working in industry.

Within 2 nine-week terms, the certificate program offers acting students a chance to experience the audition process through to the completion of a short film. And, because acting and filmmaking students study on the same campus, an exciting creative synergy is forged between those involved in “behind the scenes” activity and those interested in “on-camera” work. With so many filmmakers walking around campus, there is rarely a shortage of roles for interested actors.

In the “Acting for the Camera Program”, you will learn what it takes to prepare for a role and then apply what you have learned in actual shooting conditions on set. Then, with your finished performances, you can put together an acting reel for use in auditions after graduation.

In addition to the regular courses of study, students in the diploma program for acting are able to tailor their education with the selection of electives in their third and fourth terms. Actors can choose from the film school's list of courses, which may include Script Analysis, Directing Actors, and Guerilla Filmmaking, in order to gain a better understanding of the team environment in any given film production.

All throughout the duration of the program, the students get the opportunity to build a strong show reel by acting in the short film projects of the filmmaking students. Acting students get the best of both worlds in front of and behind the camera at the IAFT where the unique learning environment nurtures working relationships that may develop creative collaborations even after graduation.
